SEMDA 2016 Review/2017 Preview

 In News

“Great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people.” –  Steve Jobs.

With 2016 in the books, I’m overwhelmed by the support for SEMDA demonstrated by so many colleagues in the southeast medtech ecosystem. There are too many to thank individually, so on behalf of the SEMDA board and staff, thank you for making 2016 such a great success! It may be cliché, but it’s also true; we couldn’t have done it without you!

As I look ahead to 2017, I’m so excited about new initiatives, new partnerships, and impact we will make to help make the southeast a world-class destination for the medtech industry.

2016 Review

2016 was a great year for SEMDA. From taking the conference out of Georgia for the first time ever, to launching Medtech Women@SEMDA, forming new partnerships throughout the region, and increasing membership by 31 percent compared to 2015, SEMDA is strong!

Without question our biggest initiative in 2016 was taking the annual conference to Nashville. We couldn’t have picked a better city or had better partners than the folks in Tennessee. By all accounts, the 2016 SEMDA conference was a smashing success. I attend a lot of conferences and while all have great programming, I pay closest attention to the vibe of the event. The atmosphere in Nashville was electric. The opening reception set a standard for future events, we had more exhibitors and sponsors than ever, attendance was outstanding, and the food was impeccable! We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.

The launch of Medtech Women@SEMDA was also tremendous. Our inaugural event was full of “bad-ass women” who are leading the medtech industry here in the southeast. It was the perfect launch for the endeavor and sets us up to offer more opportunities to network and advance your career. Here is a quick read on the highlights from GCMI CEO and MW@S Founder Tif Wilson.
